Restoring Windows Server System State

When restoring Windows Server System State, first restore the required backup image, then run system state recovery using wbadmin.

Recovery command

wbadmin start systemstaterecovery

Caution

System State recovery can affect critical system components (registry, Active Directory, boot configuration, and more). Plan a maintenance window and validate the procedure in advance.

Best practices

  • Run the recovery with administrative privileges.
  • Confirm that you selected the correct recovery point.
  • Verify server roles and services after completion.
