Frequently Asked Questions¶
General questions¶
- What is Delta Cloud Backup?
-
Delta Cloud Backup is a managed service for creating encrypted backup copies in the cloud. It supports Windows, Linux, and macOS with centralized management through the client area. For an overview, see Introduction to the service.
- What data types can I back up?
-
You can back up files and folders, MySQL databases, Windows System Backup, and Windows Server System State through the appropriate protected item types. See Protected Items.
Devices and registration¶
- How do I add a new device?
-
Open Devices, click "+ Add Device", select the platform, and follow the installation and configuration steps. See Add Device.
- I deleted a device and reinstalling does not ask for Username/Password. What should I do?
-
This usually means the agent still has a cached local session. Re-register the device for your operating system using the new credentials from the wizard. See Reinstalling and reconnecting the agent.
- How do I delete a device?
-
From the devices list, use the Delete action and confirm the operation in the dialog. For detailed steps, see Deleting a device.
Backup and restore¶
- Can I run a backup immediately without waiting for the schedule?
-
Yes, use the Manual Backup action for an online device. Track the result in Jobs. See Manual backup.
- Where can I check whether backup or restore completed successfully?
-
All operations are listed in Jobs, including status, duration, and detailed logs.
- What restore methods are supported?
-
Supported scenarios depend on data type: files/folders, MySQL, Windows System Backup, and Windows Server System State. See Restore.
- How do I start restore from a device?
-
Open Devices, choose the "Restore Archived Data" action for the target online device, and follow the wizard. See Restoring archived data for detailed steps.
Storage and retention¶
- What happens to backup data when a device or protected item is deleted?
-
Existing archived data remains in storage until the configured retention period expires. Deletion stops future backups but does not immediately remove already stored backup data.
- Where can I monitor used storage space?
-
You can monitor used capacity and quota in Storage Vaults.
Support¶
- How do I get support if I run into an issue?
-
Create a support request from the client area and include as much detail as possible (affected device, job time, error message, and reproduction steps).
